re:"a new religion of humanism." You've got it backwards big fella, humanism rejects religion and seeks self realization through reason.... This in contrast with right wing Christians who have self serving selective beliefs and preach bigotry and hatred in their churches.....you provide evidence of this with your statement making humanism sound like a dirty word. That's the chief contradiction with conservatives wrapping themselves around their bibles. Political conservatives are usually not considered humanists whereas it is a very common trait among democrats and liberals...
