China did not rate the recent Bush-Qian meeting favorably, as it was “… simply a bunch of photo opportunities without substance, talking to Bush who is not capable of statecraft and only following the lead of his behind the scenes advisors of which there were many, and an ‘transparent attempt’ at placating China with only words of cooperation, suffice to fool only the most foolish of politicians …”;

Republicans should have just nominated his father for President. Or Bush should have sent Cheney amd stayed home and watched baseball. This is what happens when someone becomes President who boasted about how cannot read a book all of the way through. Hopefully he'll improve. Every President has on the job training.

Hi Jay,

'(5) More interestingly, Taiwan bigwigs are also believing that “… US is now a rogue state and is not dependable for achieving any stability on behalf of Taiwan ….”;'

That's an interesting perspective. Enjoy that vacation.

The politicians in China fear their own military now, so will sacrifice free trade to appease them. Already many in my area will no longer buy Chinese goods if they can prevent it, and that is the big stick ordinary plain Americans now have to use against China's dictatorship.
Personally I believe that war with mainland China is inevitable as long as the current regime remains in power, and caving in to their demands now and in the future will only make them stronger, as all bullies thrive on submission and continuing weakness from those they wish to control. Will we seek to avoid war at all costs, or fight for freedom as is almost always required if one wishes to preserve it? We live in interesting times, which is also an old Chinese curse I believe.....
