I'm still dumbfounded by Welch's statement (which I've heard several people bring up this weekend) that GE expects to deliver double digit revenue growth under "any economic circumstances". What does he have to lose by saying it I suppose.

bandwidth glut threatens future of fiber optic firms

miami.com

what difference does it make what welch said? he isn't talking about internal revenue growth. all he needs is a bear market to buy companies on the cheap, write off well beyond what's resonable, and add it on revenue and 'earnings' after the mergers.

if the japanese companies don't have to come clean after more than ten years, i don't expect american accounting to be any better.
