Nikkei Hits Day's Low; Futures Selling Monday, April 9, 2001 [Dow Jones] Nikkei hits new intraday low of 12905.91, down 3.6%, as futures continue to fall, dragging index lower in relatively thin trade. Nikkei afternoon open just above morning low. Topix index down 2.3% at 1283.15. [Dow Jones] Moody's welcomes Japan government economic stimulus package, but as it "fails to address the true scale of Japanese banks' problem assets" and uncertain whether will lead to banks' fundametal recovery, immediate impact on bank ratings "is rather limited." Echoes similar S&P announcement last Friday.
