"I think the point was it was written a long time ago by folks who were rather primitive."

So was the US constitution. The point really is whether or not the documents are old but are they historically reliable. The new Testament documents claim to be eyewitness accounts of actual events. The oldest extant copies of these documents butt right up the times when they were originally autographed, and have been demonstrated to be reliable in the areas that can be verified, such as historical people places, and events. The standard of proof that you demand does not apply to Historical events, in the same way it does to a question such as "Is there a box of crackers in the pantry?". You are suffering from what has been called, "the box of crackers in the pantry, fallacy". We make educated, "FAITH" decisions that effect our lives every day. Getting on a plane, eating at a restaurant, stepping on the brakes. Faith is only as good as the object, that faith is placed in. I have never claimed that I could prove "absolutely" that the events in the Bible are true, certainly not by using a totally unrelated standard such as you suggest. What I have, and do claim, is that the evidence is such that it is entirely reasonable to consider the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, as a reliable historical fact. If that one historical fact is established then all the other claims attributed to this same Jesus deserve serious consideration.

Especially since, we all gonna die.
Sin and death and Judgement, will not go away simply because you don't like them.
He is risen, He is risen indeed!
Have a good day X
