Personally, I think calling "intelligent design" more "sophisticated" than biblical creation is a stretch, it seems to fit well under the "creation science" umbrella.

I think the perceived sophistication is in the language. The article mentioned, I think, that intelligent design is expressed in the language of science. We give more credence to a message spoken with the voice of William F. Buckley than we do the voice of Jesse Jackson, regardless of the actual message.
