it is an old trick broker use. call 50 people and tell them stock abc is going up. cal 50 people and tell them stock abc is going down. when the stock moves (up or down) call back those folks you told the correct direction and let them know you were "right."

Bingo!

The internet and Korn Interpretations expose it so well too!

"I'll go to 100% cash if the model says bear" then he goes to 60% cash as a tactical asset allocation..

Right away the market goes through the roof, especially the NASDAQ, and he brags on how well his P1 is doing and how his B2B eCommerce fund, TEFQX is doing...

then a year later he lets calls through praising him for his bearish call and move to 100% cash... with NO CORRECTION for the wrong facts.. but let a caller get through and say he recommended Lucent... heads roll on how he didn't recommend that stock! -grin-

He has a knack of saying stuff like "I predict 50 to 75bpt move by the Fed nad nearly zero chance for a 100 bpt move" on a weekend as if he was unique in this and yet CNBC had been saying that for weeks. Then it happens and people are impressed. If Bob was better looking, he could be on TV with David Copperfield!

I also hear he doesn't think GW is a "stuffed shirt" these days and that Greenspan should be fired. Wow, talk about a "flip flop" to follow the wind direction....
