jri, wal-mart is smart. they'd buy land for x. they'd build on land for 2x. they'd save part of the land to resell after their store was built and, therefore, the value to other businesses was immense. they'd sell the land for 3x.

this paid for their land and their store. free.

that's smart.

the ratios may be wrong, but the free land and store are not. i'm not sure if they always get this kind of deal. sometimes it is better, others not as good. but very, very smart.
