lt, that is what i'm talking about. and the damage was to the nose. not to mention the 4 propellers waiting to get thrashed. it looks like somebody swerved right in front of the plane and clipped the wing and nose.

the other question is why? suicide mission? it sounds bizarre. save face? how about exposing huge cajones? seems to me they have ulterior motives. i hope it is just to have more time w/ the da plane, boss, da plane.

otherwise, they are hell bent on holding hostages.

Okay, I'll describe a possible scenario for you.
The US plane is cruising along a mile or two out into international airspace. The Chinese interceptors try to bracket our plane and nudge it into Chinese airspace. The Chinese planes are too close and are flying at stall-speed - a speed that makes them practically unmanuveurable - in order to stay as slow as the prop-plane. Our plane, in order not to be forced into Chinese airspace, initiates a turn that the Chinese pilot has not allowed himself enough room to respond to.
Just one possible scenario, FWIW.

i'm pretty sure you're on to something here...in fact, i THINK what happened is this: the Chinese were watching this purty lil' spy plane of yours collect sensitive data for several years now, from afar.
over time, they got more and more aggravated over this, but thought, what the heck, we're getting TEN times the data they are getting, since we began sponsoring Bubba.
then Bubba's shadow Robotman didn't make it into the top job, and their aggravation over the purty lil' spy plane turned into an urge to 'do something about it'. but what could possibly be done? riiiight...RAM IT.
