Sharpton is a hustler, but that doesn't mean he's not without sincerity once in a while. He has said many regretful things, but I can't help but think some of it was just bluster to get people's attention. Whatever his past misdeeds, this can only be positive, even if he uses it as a vehicle for self promotion.

I think his comments that you thought "revealing" were probably carefully chosen. I'm sure he's feeling pressure from some people around him not to mess with blacks when he goes there, but he is gently rebuffing those people. I've a feeling he's going to call it like he sees it.

It must have been neat to hear him speak. Great oratory is a real treat, it's getting scarce.
