What are folks across the country seeing in PC pricing these days? I live in the south and am seeing some hefty price slashing. Still not enough to induce me to purchase but getting closer. I'm seeing SDRAM being given away as an inducement to sell peripherals. Also CDRW drives given away to sell digital cameras. Monitors getting cheeeeeeeap!

Memories of the last oil bust

are still fresh.

But only a small fraction of the current employment pool on Wall Street has ever been through a papa Bear Mkt. Many of the failing fund mgrs are only a few years out of Wharton or Sloan and they're being eaten alive by the more experienced predators. Even more so with public investors who are being sheared like sheep.

Sure, this happens to some extent in every down market every cycle. But, we've not had a severe down cycle in nearly 20 years!

Neither 1990 (which didn't dive deep enough) nor 1987 (which didn't last long enough) qualify for d' Big Bear label.

For those who weren't active investor/traders in 1981-82 or 73-74? The rite of passage has only just begun.
