>>Short selling destabilizes a market when there is leverage<<

so does buying long. you wanna make that illegal, too or is your *logic* flawed?

you ASSUME that rising stock prices are good under any circumstances. WRONG. we would not have collapsed, you would not be trying to outlaw short selling if it weren't for the bubble levels.

that WAS the problem. a systematic rise from naz 1000 to 1800 would have been welcomed. money didn't have to be burned like midnight oil on money losing internet companies. companies that were 3-4 years from ipo levels wouldn't have gone ipo so soon. the bad ones would have been weeded out b4 the public got raped due to their own irresponsibility.

the LONGS caused this break in the market. you have it backwards. we aren't dropping b/c of short selling. we are dropping b/c people over paid for assets. we are still double and triple historical valuations with business tanking.

of course, you WON'T take responsibility for being irresponsible. it is the evil short sellers that ruined your day. you probably bathed in the orgy of short squeezes before as stocks went up and that was "good."

the world does not revolve around your account. get a grip. in blaming others you will guarantee you never see the truth and learn from it.

I see you've finally moved beyond the denial stage. Congratulations.

(Edit: Check that, I read on. The U.S. economy rescued by the PDA? What a vision. Never mind that, for example, Palm's got about $200 million in inventory it's gonna have to find a hole to bury in.)

<Short selling destabilizes a market when there is leverage, that is easy credit and in our example of the stock market margined accounts, and in that respect, unlike in other commodities or even merchant order and pay on delivery sales transactions, enabled the OVERSOLD downward spiral we have been enduring. >

LOL, what crap! Do you have ANY idea of the market caps we're talking about?? Yea, there's no recession coming, just short sellers right?? ROFLMAO
