Craig, With the Nikon 990, you don't have to flip a switch at just the right time. Just leave it in manual and it works just like your old film camera that you relish so much. We used to have a saying in Naval Air when one of us would have a problem with a piece of equipment on the airplane and write it up for maintenance. After the maintenance crew would check it out and find no problem, they would write up the repair description as follows: Changed the pilot, equipment now works just fine!
