No.. they're just considered as property... To be sold or traded as they please. Does the word "harem" strike a memory?

And this same American women has every right to leave her community and move elsewhere. Every society has fringe groups, but so long as they remain within the law (secular law), they enjoy freedom of religion.

And the level of extremism followed all religious individuals obviously vary. Many Muslims are extremely moderate and tolerant of women asserting their rights.

You can quote the most extreme faction in one society, and I probably find and even more extreme one in another.
