DD,

Let me offer my Congrats on kicking the smoking habit. Its one habit I have never developed. Lets see, no smoking, no drinking, I would say if you could give up gambling you will have licked the big three. Good luck and don't let anything stop you.

Joe

Good morning Ditch. Giving up cigarettes was very difficult for me. I quit at least 20 times, once going as long as a year without smoking, before finally kicking the habit. I'm on five years of no smoking, with the exception of one weekend at Annapolis.

At first, I couldn't even read a newspaper. I couldn't focus. What helped me (in coping)the most was a brochure from the Red Cross. I may still have it lying around and will send it to you if I can find it. Some of the to-do's:

Keep busy.
find new routines.
At least at first, don't hang out with people or place yourself in situations that you associate with smoking.
Reward yourself.

I am glad that I don't have to stand guard duty outside office buildings anymore. That I don't feel like a fish out of water if I haven't had a cigarette in an hour. I don't miss the stains on my fingers or the burn holes everywhere.
The benefits are obvious.

Go Ditch!!! Be strong...but if you should fail, just get stronger and start over again.

On another personal note, I am guessing that Ken W's grandchild was delivered last night. Yeehaw!!!

Sergio

Ditchdigger: Good Luck with the stop smoking. I stopped 2 weeks ago today.
It's hard! It's NOT easy!
The first three days I thought I was going to die...
Those first three days are REALLY bad, then it gets a bit better.

For me, after about 10 days with only smoking two half cigs, it started to get easier...

I too am thinking about buying a Palm with the wireless modem. National Discount Brokers, and others, are set up to handle the PALM.
Trade stocks, get news, etc.... anywhere , anytime...

RDRT kicked butt today!! YES!!
News does it everytime, and a great market day helps!
