He must have been a left over Clinton military trainee..

and I don't mean this in any way a reflection on the poor pilot...I blame Clinton for not keeping the military up to par.

NO pilot should be so lackadaisical nearing enemy territory.

You have to understand how the game is played.

During Vietnam we played with the Russians all the time. New players but the game is the same. The Russians understood the rules.

First of all China is not the enemy, we are only spying on them.

"Fast movers" as you call them have to give way to the larger aircraft as they take a bit more effort to move around the sky.

These pilots are trained to fly formation in close quarters, but I would grant you 400 meters are pretty close when you don't know the other pilot.

The safest manoeuvre the E-3 could make is straight and level flight. That way the fighter pilot knows where the E-3 is going. And mid air collisions are avoided.

IMO, we need to have F-16 escorts in the future to take care of the less than professional Chinese Fighter pilots.

A radar lock does wonders for ones attitude!
