Thanks for the link. I think you might find that the reason that more women press charges than men in this situation is that the medical profession has a more heightened awareness to the signs in women. If a women shows signs of repeated physical abuse the doctor examining her will encourage her to seek help even if it is against her wishes. Whereas, men seek medical care less frequently to begin with and the medical professionals don't equate cuts and bruises on a man with those that would be consistent with domestic violence.

My husband works in construction and he is forever coming home with a gash or a bruise. Half the time he doesn't even remember how it happened. The couple times I did something to myself, like once I hit my forehead on an open car door by accident and had a big ugly bruise on my forehead. All my friends made jokes about John beating me up. So in this respect, I suppose we should have a little more awareness that these things go both ways. It shouldn't come as a surprise considering that women have been physically abusing their children for forever.

The couples that I've met that have been involved in this awful situation, very frequently the physical violence was started by the wife, but the end result was that the wife received more serious injuries. This is understandable in light of the fact that men are bigger and stronger in most cases.

The people my heart goes out to the most, are the children that have to live in these homes, regardless of who does what to whom.
