Cisco Fundamentals:

"Cisco Systems also announced massive layoff (the first widespread layoffs in its 17 year history). Cisco plans to eliminate up to 17% of its work force by July.
. . .
Another preannouncement is expected from Cisco this month. A UBS Warburg analyst reported that checks with Cisco suppliers found most of Cisco's product lines down 10-30 percent from last quarter. My sources indicate numbers are even worse than that. Some areas of Cisco's business have "fallen off a cliff." I wouldn't be surprised if Cisco reports a loss the next couple of quarters. Where it can, Cisco is cancelling orders from its suppliers, 'zeroing' them out in some cases. Orders to IBM for ASIC semiconductors are a casualty."
