<<I don't consider them a threat other than they have a different ideology than we do and I don't consider that threatening.>>

Then why are they buying Russian built crusiers made to sink our Aircraft Carriers? Built just for that purpose.

Dear Patricia, history forever repeats itself. All relationships must be built on mutual respect or they will fail eventually and often violently. A marriage, or the relationship between nations cannot be built on a lie.

The Chinese want a first order lie. That cannot happen. I expect that the Chinese will eventually save face by ending the detention. The Chinese will eventually understand that they don't look strong insisting on a lie.

The 24 Americans being detained are comfortable and I see no need to act any time soon.

To me the most effective way to end the Chinese stupidity is the mainstream adoption of stupidity jokes about the idiot's who drive the jets for China. I guess all the driving school's in China are run by women. :-)

Hi,

I'm just a passer by who is posting for entertainment purposes. For reference I'm an Ozzie living in Prague (and drunk while I type this).

Generally I'm far more right than left, free markets etc. I may have my own views which need correcting but I'm interested in others opinions of some of the widely held held impressions of GWB.

1) He is quite influenced by the power of money. (In the world corruption index the US dropped from No 1 without competition to number 9 because of Lobbying).

2) One of the most important issues of the next hundred years will not be economics, may be war, may be disease (AIDS) but will probably be global warming and it's affect on the environment. GWB has taken a fairly un-forward thinking position on those issues.

3) Whether someone voted Ruplican in Iowa or comes from Hangzhou in China and doesn't really get a proper vote, people are people and deserve equal treatment. Bushes policy to the rest of the world is "The American peoples interest second and my oil buddies first. And world relations a lower third".
