re: "chris, so 35% of bob's money is down about 28% - he only went 65% cash. Of the 65% cash, about half of that is down 55%."

Yes, that is basically correct. However, I believe that most people who followed his advice in total are better off than if they had not followed it at all. I know I am.

There are a lot of people on here who think you have to "interpret" Bob's advice. When Bob says "Buy immediately", some think Bob really means to wait for a dip. When Bob says sell or buy a certain %, they think he means something different, perhaps even 100%. Bob encourages this thinking on his radio show buy talking up those that "adjusted" his call to their benefit, of course, giving all the credit to Bob. For example, if you called the show and said you sold 100% of your stocks in January, 2000 because of Bob, he would talk you up along with himself.

Skeeter, thinking about your post a little more, I think one would have to say that 35% of Bob's money is down about 20%, since he generally had (before the QQQ trade) recommended diverse portfolios and frequently recommended the Wilshire 5000 (Vanguard Total Market) or Spiders. Over the stated time period, the broad market is down somewhere in the 20 to 22% range.

of the 65% cash, about half of that is down 55%.

Didn't he over weight the 40% then 35% to Europe and International? I believe those are down MORE than the S&P500.

Why not just put the portfolios into Quicken and see what happens if you do the QQQ?
