Many think that the Nasdaq since 1995 was a bubble, and those data points should be thrown out, as not representative of the longer-term pattern.

In TA, you don't throw anything out. I just wouldn't compare trends to that era. The days of a company announcing a split and having it's shares go up 50% in one day are over.
