Patricia we (the US as in the new administration) got what we wanted justification for a big increase in defense spending, which we will do, while still looking for the enemy. And the Chinese got big a bolster internally, they stood down the mighty bully the USA. As for Tom as his response to you well he is in another cosmos

"War is only about the ruling class and their testosterone driven motivation to have ultimate power." The President of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo must be getting testosterone shots. Her opponents are facing annihilation, the physical kind. She's supposed to be a friend to China. Arroyo, who turns 54 on Thursday, said her government would never negotiate with "bandits" and she ordered the armed forces to launch "all-out war" to annihilate the guerrillas. Course it's partially over an American hostage....oh and BTW she's neutral on the China US tiff.
