>>IMO, Bob leaves these things vague on purpose so that he can spin them to his advantage at a later date should he need to.<<

geode, bob is a bull market sales hack. why be surprised?

when the bull was in full force, i said i'd withhold judgment on bob until a bear market came. i said a monkey with a buy button outperformed him in the bull. man, that pissed off his supporters ;-) nontheless, it was true.

bob has shown himself INCAPABLE of handling a bear market. pure and simple. he is a ONE WAY WONDER.

i think a BIG problem is that he castigated bears to make his followers feel *special.* in doing this, he set himself in a position where the *worst* thing he could do was risk being like them. "bad news bob" would have appeared to be a total hypocrite. so, he stayed long with 35% of his portfolio. he tried to play bounces near a cliff with a TON of his portfolio. all that gloating led bob to lead his followers right off a cliff.

"pride cometh before a fall." wise words.

bottom line is that bob stayed bullish during the biggest bubble in human history. he made fun of folks who saw the insanity and urged people to stay clear of the IMPENDING *disaster.* he gloated mightily as the bubble was pumped and pumped and pumped.

look at some of his picks. he held lu at bubble valuations when a rational investor would have sold them. since he wasn't smart enough to sell them when they went irrational, he wasn't smart enough to sell them on the down side.

he plays up his good calls and ignores his bad calls b/c he makes so many bad calls. michael jordan laughs at all those game winning shots he missed - even made a commercial about them. why? he is secure. he has greatness to back him up. bob hides all his faux pas b/c he has so many and doesn't have the greatness required to be secure in his failures.

jmho...
