Alan,

I was 15, and a junior in high school. As a youth, I spent much time in the canyons of northern Arizona and Southern Utah, and was quite passionate about them. Enough so that I drove with a group of fellow students 300 miles to Kanab, and testified before the Escalante hearing. It believe it was in mid-May, 1973 and I remember reading my comments later in the Congressional record.

It was a great experience for a teenager.
