You keep saying interest rates. There are short term rates and long term rates. Not saying this changes your opinion, just interested, in knowing what rates you just posted? They "look" like short term rates.

Interest rates don't change direction immediately just because a new person becomes president. Interest rates, both short and long, climbed under Carter in large part because of the second oil shock. They did indeed continue to climb a bit under Reagan before turning around.
