The standoff ended partly due to China worrying about losing a lot of the American market. Let's face it, 80 plus billion in trade surplus for China is not chicken feed. This can buy a lot of missiles pointing at us. But then we do want China to end up as a friendly nation. Once the old timers are gone there, the next generation will probably be a lot softer. One thing we do not need is another cold war. I am glad our people are back home but we should probably take another look at our trade with China. I believe we should not have this kind of trade deficit with China. China cannot get away with something like that in Europe, for instance. But you do want QCOM to succeed there, right? gg. And yes, there was a backlash starting. I had already told myself that I would not buy another thing made in China as long as our guys and girls were held there. But as you probably know, it's hard to determine at times where things come from. A lot of times it just says: Distributed by.... China will be a big market for us one day, hopefully. Once the people in China make enough money to buy our products. Turning our backs on them may not be to our advantage in the long run. But again, things should be done a little different. The whole thing was unbelievable. If China wants to join the WTO then this is no way to act. They did act as if we were in a cold war.
