From Briefing.com this morning: 10:28 ET EMC Corp (EMC) 34.10 -0.30: -- Update -- Stock retreats after strong opening; sources at Wit SoundView tell us the firm believes EMC is in denial with its statement that the slowing economy was the only factor that has impacted them; Wit sees EMC losing market share to Hitachi and facing aggressive pricing environment. Wit is dumbfounded by EMC's comments that it was seeing budget issues in Jan/Feb in the US, spreading to Europe by March -- only two weeks ago the Chairman was still talking about 35% revenue growth for 2001 and now it's growth in the low 20s. Wit sees stock falling to the low-mid 20s.
