Hi gpowell; Our "chicken" involved riding bicycles into each other head on. We also rode them for thrills off of small cliffs. But today's kids do the same thing at the local skateboard rink.

I hated playing baseball cause I hated that dang ball, LOL. We had organized fist fights to determine pecking order. When a new (male) kid arrived, he would be sized up by the gang, and then they'd arrange fist fights until they could figure out where he belonged. One of my most vivid memories of childhood is watching a guy pinned on his back to the dirt yelling, "You can beat me up, but you can't shut me up!" to the much stronger guy laconically sitting on him. (You were supposed to cry "uncle" when someone had obviously bested you, but he wasn't playing by the rules, I guess.) We weren't vicious, though. No one got hurt badly as far as I know.
