The bulls have falsely blamed Greenspan for the downturn. Fundamentals of sectors and stocks ultimately determine stock prices. A percentage up or down on interest rates does not matter that much. Worldwide markets, mega technology cycles and other factors are much more important. If the FED had 0% interest and PC technology had not come along, we would not have had a robust electronics sector. The FED discount rate could have been 8% when the Internet came along and investors still would have lost their heads and paid $200 for everything with a .com added to the company name.
