Max: The point is that there would have been heat issues if the chip was over ... say 1GHz. So that's why the demo speed is under GHz.

If you can dissipate all the heat of a 900MHz Palomino using only passive cooling, surely you can manage well over 1GHz using a simple fan.

Anyway, since one of the 1.5GHz chips was demoed "open", presumably any issues wrt bin splits have been solved.

The only slight worry I have left is whether this open demo was a fully functional chip, of if it was just a "see-we-can-post-at-1.5GHz" thing. (I realize that it likely did more than post, but if no heavy apps were run, it is still possible that features / units were disabled).
