So I totally disagree with you.

History in the making! You heard it here first.

But 3rd graders who pick up a gun aren't the ones who do mass killing. Those are impulse killings, and not mass. I agree that most 3rd graders probably wouldn't make bombs, though with their sophistication on the internet they could find out very easily.

Most mass killings, which is what we were referring to, are premediated. Columbine was, as I recall, planned quite a while r in advance. Kids who are bullied don't snap the first time; things grow and fester until something snaps.

So I agree with you that the 3rd grader bringing a gun to school and shooting a classmate would be unlikely to use a bomb (though they might use a knife or other weapon). But we were talking about mass killings, and I do think that people committed to mass killing who can't get guns would have a significant likelihood of seeking other methods of revenge or whatever their motive is which might be even more destructive than a gun.

Edit: Just for interests sake, I went looking for instructions on making home made bombs. Within five minutes I found several recipies that I think any high school student could follow easily enough. I'm not about to test them to see whether they really work. But assuming they do, making a bomb is probably even easier than getting a gun unless your parents have one unlocked lying around the house.
