Hand gun deer season is the 2nd weekend in January in my state. Hand guns are legal for small game during the regular season.

Yup, I have a Smith & Wesson .44 Mag model 629 DX with a 6" barrel for just that purpose. It's also quite handy as a backup for Bear repellant in the forest I hunt in.

I also carry a .22 caliber revolver to take care of those nasty Grouse that pester me while deer hunting with a rifle.

PS: Do nuke weapons come in handgun calibers?
