Yes, it is tough with only two providers of
handset technology.

Even worse when new, compatible networks are introduced
without testing both handsets.

Must be either lack of a handset to test with or
lack of a network to test with??

Except the problem that the new, compatible network came
long after the two handsets??

P.S. This cannot be that difficult, only takes a paper
and a pen, an x and y axis, where x is time and y
is new, backward (in time) compatible features.

P.P.S. One trick ponies should not advertise backward
compatible tricks nor ponies, but add new tricks to
older tricks, or some testing for old tricks while
standardizing new tricks.
