TWY and all, there's an article on our internal employee communications web site (a.k.a. "Circuit") on Microsoft's X-Box and Intel's role. Here are some highlights:

- CPU is 733 MHz, OLGA packaging, and will be a hybrid of the mobile Coppermine (Pentium III) and Celeron processors.
- Intel is also doing the development and evaluation of the board design. It will be a 4-layer construction, double-sided, with DDR SDRAM soldiered directly.
- Intel is also providing the Vtune performance analyzer to all XBox game developers as part of the standard kit.

So I guess Intel is doing more than just dumping slow CPU rejects in Microsoft's direction. Still, XBox has a hard road ahead in the face of intense competition vs. Sony and Nintendo, but like I said before, with Sega dropping out, maybe XBox has a chance to make it.
