Altek Power's development permit receives approval

On April 11, 2001, Altek Power was provided with the following notification
by the Town of Fort MacLeod: "The time period allotted for appeals to the
Development Permit Application 03/2001 -- Altek Independent Power
Corporation has expired without appeal. The application is therefore
approved as presented with the conditions for development as presented in
the notice of decision from the March 23, 2001, meeting of the municipal
planning commission. The Development Permit Application 03/001 has been
approved as presented and therefore becomes the Development Permit 03/001
-- Altek Independent Power Corporation through the Town of Fort MacLeod."
The company has further been invited by the town to make application for a
building permit for construction of the facility when it is ready to do so.
As was reported in Stockwatch April 10, 2001, the company and its joint
venture partner, Texas-Australia Power Inc., are in the process of
considering various financing options for the Fort MacLeod project, the
particulars of which shall be announced as soon as they are finalized.
The company and its joint venture partner, Texas-Australia Power Inc., also
continue to review other opportunities in electrical generation in North
America, however all such opportunities remain in the negotiation stage at
this time.
