That Keating mess would have cooked McCain's goose if he had gotten the nomination. The Dems would have trotted out the widows who lost their life savings. It would not have been pretty. For McCain to think he would get a free pass is nuts. IMHO that is why the Dems so wanted McCain to be the candidate.
