Dale: I don't look for Hammer to displace Athlon/Duron quite so fast, but by the end of 2003 AMD should be selling more Hammer processors than Athlon/Duron processors.

In any event, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what kind of socket and bus protocol the Hammer will use. There would seem to be 3 separate possibilities:

- Pure EV6 (with LDT being supported only via the Northbridge)
- EV6 + some LDT pins
- Pure LDT

Option 1 would seem very unlikely: (LDT) Performance would suffer and it doesn't jive with the "no SocketA" reports.

Option 2 is the one I consider the most likely, although I must admit I'm hoping for Option 3 (which could be implemented with or without integrated memory controller).
