Hi Darleen Shurgot; Re: "Is there something great about a male being able to take pain?"

No. That's not the point. If that were the point, then guys would do things that were deliberately painful. Instead, boys prefer activities that have an element of danger. This is something that females have extreme difficulty understanding, but males do stuff like that for the excitement. Life can be very boring for boys (before they start getting in trouble with sex). Now that I'm older, the urge to creep through the jungle looking for people to shoot is long stilled, but I do remember how young men think.

No. It's incidental to showing determination and style. We like to be admired and we like to admire. Most of us. Iago/SnowWhite's-mother are exceptions.

I've watched girls play baseball, soccer and rugby. The hurts, fouls and injuries are incidental in pursuing the game. They carry on. They behave much like boys (it is permissible for girls to cry but that's part of the style).

Boys have a 'disadvantage' compared to girls. They are going to grow up to be physically powerful enough to break bones. I do believe the pecking order behaviour described previously is the beginning of rule making to limit injury and diminish physical conflict. I get this belief from observation..

Sometimes the style which fits a certain age bracket carries on unmodified as folk get older. (You will notice that youthful leaders have some behavioral characteristics of an older age bracket).

Lord of the Flies is not truth. In 3rd world cities where children are abandoned, they form their own societies and do what they can for each other. The rules are rough and ready but they are there,

Things don't turn really nasty till the pimps and priests arrive.

I believe thinking has come very recently to us and we're not very good at it yet or reconciling it with what came before.
