Actually it was Tempe. (Her name was Charisse.) My 1964 Rambler died shortly before I left for College.

I actually remember my testimony quite well. I pointed out that strip mining the Kaiparowits would lead to short term financial gain, but damage the tourist industry permanently by destroying the scenery.

I think that Morris Udall, who chaired the meeting, was quite impressed by the testimony of our little band of environmentalists.

We then camped out on the edge of a box canyon in the Navajo reservation near Lake Powell, and played a wonderful game of "truth or dare" with Debbie G and the two cheerleaders in the moonlight. ;^)
