There is potential for a short squeeze but I have no idea of the timeframe. Obviously a short covering rally would be that much more violent if the Comex stockpiles have first been depleted. But it is dependent on some big guy triggering the short covering in the first place. The declining Comex stockpiles alone could be a false signal but the spikes in the lease rate appear to confirm that something real is brewing in the shadows.
