If you check my charts you can see what is happening in MSFT. The little guys are selling (white line), the big guys are buying (green). What's interesting is that neither is effecting the price (black). The price is a random walk. The tick (pink line) almost completely matches the price movement, this almost NEVER happens, which leads me to believe that there is a large amount of program trading that is simply set up to exploit the random movement in the tick.

Towards the end of the chart you can see that this is starting to fall apart and the little guys are winning even though the over all money flow is positive. Conclusion, it's just a big safe place for the mufus to park cash that they are forced to put to work somewhere.
