ML would get more in commissions then, right. On the other hand, if I hold while their good clients unload, the clients get better prices. I admit I don't really know what I'm talking about here.

There's a big difference between trading and selling once a year or so. LTBH prevents investors from selling AMAT at 115. Why don't they tout "protect profits" and "stop losses"?

My favorite saying from the poster kid of LTBH, Warren Buffett is:

"There are two important rules to the stock market."

1. Not to lose money.

2. Not to forget the first rule.
