Hi Andy - It appears that all the semi's are moving. I already own LSI but have been looking at buying other companies in this industry including AMAT and AMCC. If you want to see price action look at AMCC for the last ten days.

I like AMCC as they have lot's of cash and a very high book value. I picked up some shares at $13 1/2 last week.

You have to be careful of the book value numbers reported as this number may include older assets now service. For LSI their Colorado facility is actually worth less now as the company has to absord the estimated $120 million shut down fees. I am not sure if their book value reflects their actual cost less accumulated depreciation but the investor must also be aware of the additional expenses that must be charged to shut down a marginal facility.

Therefore, cash reserves are more important IMO and AMCC does have quite a bit cash on hand.

Let's hope the cycle has hit bottom and new orders begin again. Perhaps, early 2002 results will show more positive booked orders and a growing trend. I believe Dan Niles was looking out as far as 2003 which IMO is quite bearish.
