Somalia was a mistaken attempt at "nation building" a logical outgrowth of the humanitarian mission, or so it seemed. Another mistake was Clinton removing Amb Robt. Oakley who was the guy who came back in the end and saved the hostage and the president's bacon. Oakley tried to warn his friends in the State dept but to no avail. This is the legitimate criticism of Clinton.
