TA, As if people will wait until August to load up on the semiconductors.<g>

We are only about 4 months from that time....why not just buy and hold as so many mutual funds will---for the next big cycle up. (market timing can be bad as they always tell us <g>) and that is what Niles is suggesting investors do.

I think his analysis of the semiconductor cycle may be right on but market timing is probably way off. I remember his call on Intel prior his bullish call early last year---he was negative and the stock took off--he changed his mind later of course (probably at the start of 2000)

People are going to be slowly increasing allocation to semis.

Seriously, who would trust his August timing..a time when most would be ready to start reducing positions, IMHO.

TA, in mid of 1996 we had correction b/c of inflation worry, which of course took semi and others down.
In 1996 market was sharply up by early July, including semi.
So LB ref. to 1996 is not correct. It was market, not semi.
May be Niels should remind investors how he was pusing semi up in Spring-Summer of 2000 when SSB was berish on semi at that time.
Niels was wrong , SSB was right.
Niels is trying to make trading call.
His timing and SSB is different by only 3-4 months.
He does not like that SSB was first making positive call.
For example Analog Devices see increase of revenue in August-October quarter, which would suggest that SSB is right saying that August will be that bottom of cycle.
Niels thinks October will see that bottom.
