The whole point is to understand the large amount of data available, not to just filter for the hell of it.

Think of statistics, it is basically a study of extracting relevant information from a boatload of data. Or if it is easier, think of a sinusoidal curve - knowing every point on that curve isn't going to tell you more than just seeing Sin(x) which is one hell of a compact representation of an infinite data series. RSI etc are just other ways of looking at the same data, in a form that might be easier to extract information from for some people.

But you obviously know all this and have some other anti-technical analysis agenda, so I don't feel like continuing this thread beyond saying that you have to know your tools. How you use them is up to you. Good luck.
