Exactly what I was saying Bush should do. For some reason, it took them 10 days to figure it out.

If you read Krauthammer carefully, you can see that it is not yet clear if we lost or China lost in this incident. I agree with him that we need to make China pay for its behavior. But I believe the business interests that depend on trade with China will have a larger voice in the Bush administration.

As for the Letter of the Two Very Sorries, it was perhaps the only way to handle the situation given the situation. But I shudder to think what you and all other Republicans would have said about it had the Clinton administration done exactly the same thing.
