Geode, I suspected that UTEK might underperform because I was working in the industry at that time and didn't like what I was hearing from former employees. But it was by no means a sure thing that it would turn out that way, and it is unlikely that Brinker would have been privy to the information I had. Without knowing that, and without knowing that the Asian financial situation was going to scuttle what otherwise was looking like a nice recovery from the previous industry downturn, the UTEK play was a very reasonable one to make at the time.

Playing the semiconductor equipment sector is not easy. You don't have to come up with paranoid conspiracy theories to explain someone having a pick go against them.
