But how much premium is paid over spot for these coins? Is not the premium paid another indication of demand?

Such a deal <g> Bags of Canadian silver dollar contain about 600 ounces, worth about $US 2620 or $C4085. 20% over melt for junk silver is outrageous. For about the same amount of money you could get a bag of 90% US junk silver (715 ounces)
