I think that one has to rely on existential sympathy. There are commonalities to our situation as human beings, striving to make sense of the world, that bind us together, even as we may differ in our choices.......

I wonder about that too. So clearly I have uncommon propensities.


All of my life I have felt a bit "different." There are lots of ubiquitous beliefs, customs, and needs that I find alien. I like to think I'm fairly smart. I know I have good listening skills and that I'm relatively open minded. And, regardless of what Neo may think <g>, I have plenty of curiosity. What should I conclude when, despite my best efforts to understand the holders of these beliefs, I just can't relate? The "different wiring" conclusion seems reasonable to me, too, at least as a working hypothesis.
